Great Weekend

img_0345The weather here has been fantastic recently.  Spent some time around the house for a change.  Built a play sink for liz, got a new monitor (one of mine died), got some yardwork done, etc.  It was great to be outside most of the day.  Here’s liz playing with her sink.

Chapel Hills Nursery

We went to Chapel Hills Nursery this weekend. This is a piece of found object sculpture they have there. Kinda neat, nothing amazing, but it’s fun to find art in un-expected places. (not that plants aren’t art)

Anyway, Liz had her first snowball and got more of it on her than in her. It was fun to watch. She seemed to love it, until she spilled the whole thing.

I’m posting this more to test out posting from flickr more than anything else. I’ll get some posts about some deeper thoughts I’ve been having of late.

Penguins

This has been a pretty busy weekend. We took our daughter to the zoo yesterday for breakfast with the penguins. She’s a little obsessed with penguins so it was a good time. Apparently the Maryland Zoo has the largest colony of African Penguins in the US. You can see the penguins on the zoo’s “Penguin Cam”.

It was a pretty early morning and we were all worn out by the end of the day. It was a fun time though. The Zoo has breakfast with the giraffes later in the year. We may try to make that as well. If you live in the baltimore area and have kids I highly recommend an aquarium and a zoo membership. Since you don’t have to pay per visit you don’t feel obligated to see the entire thing each time. You can go for an hour or two, see what you see, knowing that you can come back to it later. I’ve probably taken my daughter to the aquarium five or six times already this year. This is the second or third time we’ve been to the zoo as well. Once the weather is more consistently nice we’ll probably end up at the zoo more often.

Anyway, that’s it for today. Off to meet the grandparents to pickup a kids camping chair.
